Suicidal Thoughts & Tendencies- Handwriting Warnings | Be cautious

Updated: Sep 2, 2020

There are times when things get tough. No need to lose hope, be tougher.

Because it takes more courage to live than to die. Stay Strong

About 8 lakh people commit suicide every year around the world, according to the WHO report. According to WHO, suicide is responsible for more deaths than malaria, breast cancer, war, or even homicide. It is the second leading cause of death among the people within the range of 15-29 years. That is where it becomes crucial to promote mental well being and healthy livelihood.

Suicide refers to the act when somebody takes their own life. Suicidal behavior refers to talking about or taking actions related to ending one’s own life. Suicidal thoughts and behavior should not be taken lightly as they indicate the time, date, and place of when a person might have decided to end his/her life.

However, these suicidal thoughts are not born in a day or even within weeks. There are several indications that a person starts giving long before they commit suicide.

But, we as professionally untrained people fail to notice those signs, ignore them.

Even the people who have some sub-conscious thoughts about committing suicide, do not know several times what their mind is thinking and end up taking their own life.

That is where your handwriting comes into the picture and plays a crucial role.

When words, expressions, body language, and gestures fail to reveal something about a person’s reality, their handwriting and signature reveal a lot more about their subconscious mind. All you need to do is to be cautious of those warning signs.

Most of the time, when teenagers commit suicide, the reason they leave behind in their suicide notes is about the burden of studies, pressure from parents, or some misbehavior in school. What we as parents or teachers fail to understand is how much the child is fighting and are never able to feel their pain before it's too late. Unknowingly, they weigh down their tender shoulders with the society’s perplexed hopes and unwittingly push them on the verge of suicide.

Some simple signs of depressed mindset and suicidal thoughts can be discovered through the handwriting of those around.

Here is the handwriting sample of a girl who committed suicide.

A descending baseline or the last words drooping at the end clearly show a person’s depressed state of mind and their tendency to commit suicide.

If you find such a baseline in any person’s handwriting, it is an alert to seek for professional help.

And even if not the handwriting, just by looking at a person’s signature, the signs of depression and suicidal thoughts can be easily traced.

People with a depressed mindset or those tending to commit suicide, cut their name while doing their signature.

In the suicide note below, the person who committed suicide has a signature, in which he cuts his name, which shows his self-destructive mindset.

Whenever a person writes with a descending baseline or their baseline tends to drop suddenly towards the end, these signs indicate suicidal thoughts and feelings.

At times, there might be cases when only the last word or the last letter of the baseline falls.

Not only that, whenever there is a sudden fall in any of the words, it clearly shows signs of suicide.

A recent example of this is Sushant Singh’s handwriting sample, which clearly shows signs of depression and suicidal thoughts.

Not only this, but there are also a few more things to look at precisely in a handwriting sample.

But if you find any of these, contact for mental health aid and also be considerate towards the person because they are at the most sensitive stage of their lives.

Not only these, there are several other indicators as well to identify the suicidal tendencies of a person. But to arrive at a conclusion about someone’s personality, look for various other parameters in the handwriting.

DISCLAIMER: One element in your handwriting can give an idea about a particular trait but its important to look at the entire handwriting sample before arriving at a conclusion.
